Organization Description:
Resource Hub for Development (RHD) is a national non-profit organization, non-governmental organization working with and for the poor marginalized rural and urban slum communities in Kenya. The organization aim is to help change many lives through quality education, healthcare & nutrition, and sustainable community development initiatives; with a direct focus to Children, Youth and Women who are affected by poverty, marginalization, unemployment, abuse, famine, diseases, and natural disaster.

RHD has a vision of a just society where the dignity, self-esteem and self-determination of every citizen are guaranteed for integral human development. Its mission is to partner with communities and other organizations to alleviate poverty by providing them with access to essential resources, healthcare services, education, and training that enable them to overcome poverty and achieve sustainable development for vulnerable and marginalized people especially in rural regions and urban slums in Kenya.
RHD believe in bringing a lasting change in the lives of children, youth, women and families in the poorest communities in Kenya by promoting initiatives and sustainable development solutions which advocate and facilitate lasting change, strengthening development capacity for self-help, providing economic, social opportunities and relief to the poor.

Resource Hub for Development (RHD) in Kenya is committed to improving the lives of marginalized communities through various development initiatives, with a specific focus on health, education, agriculture, water, and social inclusion. RHD’s work in tuberculosis control is closely aligned with the Stop TB Partnership’s Global Plan, and the organization is actively engaged in raising awareness, improving diagnosis and treatment, and supporting community engagement to achieve the goals set forth in the plan. Please tell us how your organization is contributing to your country's national TB control plan:
RHD plays a significant role in contributing to implementation of Kenya’s national TB control plan . The organization works closely with county government units, healthcare providers, and local communities to raise awareness about tuberculosis (TB), provide education on prevention and treatment, and support TB patients throughout their journey. RHD conducts community-based screenings to identify individuals at risk of TB, facilitates access to diagnostic services, and ensures that patients receive appropriate treatment and care. Additionally, RHD collaborates with stakeholders to strengthen the health system’s capacity for effective TB control, including training healthcare workers and advocating for policy changes.

TB Care Delivery:
RHD’s efforts in TB care delivery include:

Capacity Building: RHD provides training and support to healthcare workers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively diagnose, treat, and manage TB cases.

Advocacy: RHD raises awareness about the importance of TB prevention, early diagnosis, and proper treatment, working with community leaders, policymakers, and other stakeholders to advocate for improved TB care.

Access to Treatment: RHD supports the provision of free or low-cost TB treatment for patients, ensuring that those in need can access and complete their treatment.

Research and Innovation: RHD collaborates with research institutions and partners to develop and implement innovative approaches to TB care, such as the use of digital health tools and community-based models of care.

These efforts have led to significant improvements in TB care delivery in Kenya, including increased case detection, better treatment adherence, and reduced transmission of the disease.

Drug-Resistant TB:
RHD has been working to address the growing issue of drug-resistant TB. This form of the disease is becoming increasingly prevalent due to the misuse and overuse of antibiotics, as well as the spread of multidrug-resistant strains.
RHD is contributing to the fight against drug-resistant TB in several ways:
1. Capacity building: RHD offers training and technical assistance to healthcare providers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to diagnose and treat TB effectively. This includes providing training on the proper use of diagnostic tools and the correct administration of antibiotics.
2. Awareness and advocacy: RHD raises awareness about the dangers of drug-resistant TB and the importance of adhering to treatment protocols. This includes working with community leaders, local organizations, and the media to disseminate accurate information and promote behavior change.
3. Partnerships: RHD collaborates with local and international partners to strengthen the healthcare system and improve TB control efforts. This includes working with the Kenyan government, NGOs, and research institutions to share resources, knowledge, and best practices.


TB-HIV:
RHD Kenya has been actively involved in combating Tuberculosis (TB) and HIV/AIDS, two major health challenges in the country. They have implemented several programs to address these issues, such as:

a. Capacity Building: RHD provides training and support to healthcare workers, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance their knowledge and skills in TB-HIV prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

b. Awareness Raising: RHD raises awareness about TB-HIV among communities, particularly those at high risk, to promote early detection and appropriate care.

c. Integrated Services: RHD works to integrate TB and HIV services, ensuring that people living with HIV are screened for TB and vice versa, and that those diagnosed receive appropriate care and support.

New TB Vaccines:
The organization is involved in the development and implementation of programs aimed at increasing access to TB prevention, diagnosis, and treatment services. RHD, Kenya works closely with local governments, international organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure that TB patients receive the necessary care and support to manage their condition. Additionally, the organization is involved in advocacy efforts aimed at raising awareness about TB and securing funding for TB control programs.

Fundamental Research:
