Organization Description: |
The mission of Partners In Health (PIH) is to provide a preferential option for the poor in health care. By establishing long-term relationships with sister organizations based in settings of poverty, Partners In Health strives to achieve two overarching goals: to bring the benefits of modern medical science to those most in need of them and to serve as an antidote to despair.
Our main areas of activities are in Haiti, Peru, and Russia. In the Central Plateau of Haiti, PIH and sister organization Zanmi Lasante run a full-service hospital, and are in the midst of two Global Fund expansion projects to treat HIV/AIDS and TB. In Peru, along with sister organization Socios en Salud and the Peruvian Ministry of Health, PIH works to treat patients with MDR-TB. PIH also works in Tomsk, Russia with civilian and prison authorities to treat patients with MDR-TB. |
