Once Refugees, my partners and I experienced first hand how infectous and devastating TB can be in communities if it goes unchecked and treated. Along with my family were once tested positive for TB when we arrived in the USA as refugees. Luckily for us due to the availibility of resouces we were treated and cured. Now, looking back, how many of my countrymen and women and their children could bed getting inffected and dying as the result of the lacked of TB awareness, testing and treatment? These question promted my colleagues to organized in the last 2 to 3 years to do something to slow and eradicate TB in Liberia through public tuberculosis awareness and sentization activities in the Republic of Liberia.
We are currently conducting Tuberculosis Awarenes, sentitization and education projects within communities; beginning with Montserrado County's General Markets, High school through our voluteers of doctors, nurses and social workers and ordinary Liberian. We are working to cover the most TB infected counties first as we progress. Withing the last two years we have on March 24th World's TB Day conducted public TB awareness and sensitization to commermorate Word's TB day in Liberia.
