Please tell us how your organization is contributing to your country's national TB control plan: |
The changing global epidemiology and new developments in TB care and service delivery have necessitated crafting of a new TB NSP for 2017-2020. It has equally been imperative to align the new TB NSP with the National Health Sector Strategic Plan (NHSSP-2016-2020) recently unveiled. Furthermore, it has been important for the plan to dovetail with aspirations of the post 2015 Global Plan to end TB. This strategy will inform resource mobilisation efforts for ending TB, and provide a shared platform for engaging key stakeholders in this fight. |

The approach will be focused on mobilizing resources and strengthening political and governmental commitment. However, there is an urgent need to intensify communication efforts and to foster the broader engagement of civil society in control and elimination of TB in Zimbabwe

Clinical trials to optimize existing tuberculosis drugs and new ant tuberculosis therapies, including novel drug-delivery mechanisms and leadership of the RESIST-TB clinical trials network, Tuberculosis infection- and transmission-control research, Development of local and international guidelines and policy for drug-resistant tuberculosis, Provision of technical assistance for international agencies, Training of health workers at all levels in Zimbabwe.
TB-HIV: There’s need to scaling Up Integrated People-Centred TB/HIV Care towards Universal Health Coverage. The initiative will provided a space to discuss the current challenges, gaps and opportunities in serving people and communities affected by TB/HIV and how each stakeholder will commit to increase the effort to overcome the barriers and scale up programmes and policies that works for our constituency.
Laboratory Strengthening: The strategic framework will built interrelated strategic goals. The activities and corresponding desired outcomes, from which Culture Warriors will draw based on the national priorities, resources, capacities, regulations and specific contexts. A monitoring and evaluation framework is also outlined and includes country and regional indicators
New Diagnostics: Diagnostic tools that are suitable for use in low-transmission areas are needed to accelerate the elimination of Zimbabwean schistosomiasis.
New TB Drugs: Culture Warriors intends to incorporate a targeted access donation program, innovative research and development of new products for MDR-TB, optimized patient management, and collaborative capacity building, including working with communities using new approaches to ensure delamanid is administered safely and responsibly to minimize the threat of drug-resistance.
New TB Vaccines: The development of new TB vaccines is a priority for WHO as it is an important unmet medical need. To support this effort, WHO’s Product Development for Vaccines Advisory Committee (PDVAC) called for the development of a WHO preferred Product Characteristics (PPC) for new TB vaccines. |
