Organization Description: |
The Regional Centre for Quality of Health Care (RCQHC) is an African regional organization advancing quality of health care in Sub Saharan Africa. Its established within the Makerere University legal framework. The Centre's mission is to build capacity to improve quality of health care in Africa through strategic partnerships, networking, education and training, identification, documentation and promotion of evidence based practices and conducting intervention-linked research. The Centre has as its focus malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, nutrition and child health. RCQHC area of comparative advantage lies in its competence to build capacity in quality improvement frameworks and supportive process related interventions. These include the Improvement Framework, Quality Improvement Collaboratives, Human Performance Technology, the Quality Assurance Framework, Total Quality Management and in terms of process related subjects, Procurement and Supply Management, Facilitative Supervision, Monitoring and Evaluation, Operations Research, Economic Evaluation,and Innovative Training. The RCQHC also develops guidelines and job aides in collaboration with international organizations to support quality improvement in the areas of its interest. |

RCQHC works with the NationalTB Control program to plan and operationalize quality improvement projects especially as related to improving chohort indicators for TB and TB/HIV collaborative activities. Recently we have embarked on increasing communities in quality improvement activities to accelerate TB control. |

TB Care Delivery: Using a community/primary health model to improve DOTS implementaion in Uganda and Tanzania
Drug-Resistant TB: We conduct a short course in the management of MDRTB and so far we have trained in program and health care facility level staff from Burundi, Kenya,Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda. In addition we have provided technical support to the Regional Center of Excellence for Programmatic Management of Drug Resistant Tuberculosis in Kigali Rwanda.
TB-HIV: RCQHC has initiated a five-country quality improvement collaborative to improve TB/HIV collaborative framework indicators
Laboratory Strengthening: Short course in quality for reference laboratories offered to all East African countries.
Research: Operational research short course offered by RCQHC to national of sub-Saharan Africa |
