Notes:
(click) On World TB Day 2000, Ministers of Health, Finance and Development from the high-burden TB countries endorsed the Amsterdam Declaration to Stop TB, which called for new international approaches for procurement and distribution of TB drugs. In response, the international community developed the GDF. Rapid progress has been made since this date and within 12 months the GDF is now operational. Wide consultation on the GDF began at the Cairo Meeting on DOTS Expansion in November 2000, the resulting GDF Prospectus was then presented to the Stop TB co-ordinating Board in Bellagio (click). At Bellagio, it was agreed by the board, that the STB Initiative secretariat continue to provide management of the GDF, for at least a two year period. The GDF was launched during World TB Day this year (click), and for the past 6 months, we have been busy creating GDF procedures to ensure that countries will receive their first drug supply next month (click).
