Organization Description:
NTP Goal: To dramatically reduce the transmission, morbidity and mortality of tuberculosis
in Zimbabwe, in line with the SDGs and the End TB Strategy.

Objectives:
1. To reduce TB incidence by 90% compared to 2015 baseline by 2035.
2. To increase TB treatment coverage from 72% in 2015 to at least 90% by 2035.
3. To increase treatment success rate from 81% in 2014 to at least 90% by 2035.
4. To reduce the absolute number of TB deaths by 95% compared to 2015 baseline
by 2035.
5. To reduce catastrophic costs incurred by TB patients and affected families to 0% by
2025 and to sustain this target thereafter.
The expected impact of achieving and maintaining the above objectives and targets
include:
• Rapid reduction of the burden of TB in the country.
• Prevention of the development and expansion of resistance to anti-TB medicines.
• Reduced social and economic burden due to TB placed upon affected patients,
families and communities.

The Zimbabwean TB control strategy is based on the three pillars and principles of the
Global End TB Strategy
