Organization Description:
Njaboute foundation is focused on Health Education and Promotion through Social Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC)for improving the life of women, children and underprivileged youths. Our main aim is to participate in the elimination of new Tuberculosis cases through contact tracing via community screening and testing at the community level. Hence, early diagnosis and prompt treatment as well as treatment compliance to prevent drug resistant shall be key in our advocacy. This would be facilitated through our competent community volunteers and field supervisors via referrals to treatment centers.

At Njaboute foundation, we are involved in the sensitization of community members on reduction of stigma and discrimination of TB and HIV/AIDS. We also participate in contact tracing, screening, testing, referrals for treatment and care. Our community volunteers serve as treatment supporter for TB patients within our jurisdiction. This is featured in our yearly activity plan which is highlighted clearly as prevention of further spread and control of TB. This facilitate the control of further spread of TB and stigma.

Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
Our focus is community sensitization through social behavioral change communication approach thereby preventing further spread of TB cases including immediate family members. Proper disposal of sputum and using tissue papers while coughing and sneezing as well as proper ventilation of residences of a TB victim.

Drug-Resistant TB:
This poses lot of threats or a global public health concern. Thus, treatment compliance and early diagnosis and contact tracing is very vital in our work. DOT strategy has been our implementing strategy that has proven dividend. So we use the DOT strategy using our community volunteers through our field supervisors

TB-HIV:
We aware of the co-infection of TB and HIV. Hence, screening and testing is offered concurrently and care is provided simultaneously. Provision of counseling and treatment compliance is key in our sensitization strategies.

Laboratory Strengthening:
The community volunteers are involved in contact tracing, screening and testing through laboratory diagnosis. Hence, immediate family members of TB cases are traced and test for TB, if positive, prompt referral to treatment centers are sort.

New Diagnostics:
When cases are confirmed, a holistic counseling to victim and family is provided and treatment initiated without delay. Certainly, compliance is key in the advocacy to prevent drug resistant is very important.

New TB Drugs:
Preparation of the individual psychological is paramount before administration of any drug particularly a new drug. Thus,prior to any administration of any drug, detail information such as indication, possible side effect, action, interaction as well as when and why to report is clearly explain.

New TB Vaccines:
Individuals wanting to take the TB vaccine must be screened thoroughly and all tests must be negative before the vaccine is administered. However, if a new TB vaccine is available, sensitization would be done before anything else. Administration of a new vaccine has to follow due process which would be adhered to strictly.

Fundamental Research:
Research is very important at any point in time. Fundamental research is important at stage of activity, hence, establishment of success progress vs retrogress is paramount.

Research:
Both base line and post research is performed to ascertain success and areas for improvement during the process. Hence, without research the need for an activity is not identified thus, fails to establish the fact of situation at point in time.
