Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
SANTA Western Cape want to expand the DOTS program into the rural areas by training DOTS Supporters in the field to attend to the patients that do not have easy access to clinics. They will also be trained to screen and trace and refer suspects to the nearest facility. Training will also include advocacy and community involvement.

Drug-Resistant TB:
SANTA's DOTS supporters and Home-based care workers will take care of MDR patients once released from the facilities and ensure that treatment is completed. Awareness will also be spread among normal TB patients as to the danger of Drug-resistant TB if they fail to complete their treatment.

TB-HIV:
SANTA realizes the close relationship between HIV and TB and will focus on creating awareness of both in the communities in which we serve. Our volunteers are trained to deal with patients who are dual infected and provide them with treatment and counseling.
