Organization Description:
Mission: To empower consumers in at-risk LMIC countries with low cost mobile based tools with access to mobile based healthcare services including access to genuine quality controlled medications.

Main Focus: Increase access to authentic medications globally

Interest in TB: Ever since the beginning PharmaSecure has focused its activities to support medications that are essential to the public health system in India. We have been working with leading manufacturers of Anti-TB medications in India to ensure genuine medicines are reaching to those in need and therefore enabling a good heath outcome. This is evident from our portfolio of essential TB drugs covered for India.

Our activities in TB control: India has a high TB burden and a majority of that problem exists in the private sector. PharmaSecure has been working to introduce low cost scalable solutions that help identify TB patients and then subsequently work with patients to help them complete their TB treatment as prescribed by providing adherence interventions. As a result of this PharmaSecure has been one of the recipients of the Grand Challenges in TB Control grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and USAID. Given the total number of anti-TB products we cover in the private secctor (approx 200mn), PharmaSecure has the potential to identify a large number of patients at a low cost and bring them within the scope of TB progammes in the country. We wish to scale this solution to other at-risk geographies globally.

Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
Treatment supervision and patient support: PharmaSecure through its mobile based platform is able to reach out and counsel TB patients towards adhering to their individual TB treatments. This is achieved by multiple modes on the mobile phones and customized to each patient individually.

Monitoring and Evaluation: We are able to monitor in an almost real-time basis the adherence to treatment amongst the patients on the platform. This enables to give an accurate picture of the treatment outcomes and challenges faced by patients in treatment completion. Therefore following it up with solutions and course corrections to retrieve patients onto treatment.

Research:
By virtue of having access to large number of patients using our platform, we can enable operational research of the nature of identifying the most effective intervention to promote adherence to anti-TB treatments.
