Organization Description:
1.Through establishing BPC, training Timor-Leste health workers, reaching out into the community, working with the Ministry of Health and with other health care NGOs we will move persistently towards our vision of improved health care for all the people of Timor-Leste.

2. Timor-Leste has a very high burden of TB disease and as such it dominates much of the work done by Bairo Pite Clinic. We are dedicated to the crucial work of stopping TB in Timor-Leste.

3. We facilitate diagnosis and treatment of approximately 1000 TB cases per year. We are also carrying out household contact screening for infectious cases and providing isoniazid preventive therapy for at risk children. We contribute to strategic planning for the National TB Program and participate regularly in Technical Working Group meetings.

Bairo Pite Clinic partners closely with the National Tuberculosis Program of Timor-Leste in the delivery of TB prevention and management. Bairo Pite Clinic diagnoses and manages approximately one quarter of all TB notifications in Timor-Leste annually.

Use of healthcare workers for home based delivery of DOTS.

Use of gene xpert for diagnosis of rifampicin-resistant TB.

Improved coordination of TB and HIV services in Timor-Leste within the single largest provider of services to both patient groups in the country.

Laboratory Strengthening:
Collaboration and coordination with two other gene xpert sites in the country.
