It was formed after realizing that adolescents and rural women in Uganda lacked adequate knowledge on their own sexuality and reproductive health which puts them at a higher risk of HIV/AIDS, TB, STIs, unwanted pregnancies and early child bearing. YAWIA Uganda is a base for Community Based clinical services (family planning, treatment of sexually transmitted infections, HCT, and maternal and child health services) in Bugiri, Namayingo, Abim, Namutumba, Mayuge, Buyende, Amuria, Kaliro, Budaka and Butaleja Districts.

Trained drug distributors pick TB drugs from Health centers and deliver them to patients who can not visit health centers. They also support in counseling clients on drug adherence.

Drug-Resistant TB:
We conduct referrals to Government health facilities, we follow up clients on treatment.

TB-HIV:
We conduct community based HIV counseling and testing. Clients who are found to be HIV positive and those suspected to have TB even if are negative, are screened and tested for TB. If found reactive, drugs are provided and counseling. TB Clients are used as index clients to provide HIV/TB services to their family members.

Laboratory Strengthening:
We conduct TB, HIV, and other lab services at our static centers in Bugiri, Kaliro and Namayingo districts. We have a plan of stating Lab services at our static sites in all the twelve districts where we operate to support government interventions on strengthening lab services.

New TB Drugs:
We work in collaboration with Districts health offices to distribute drugs to TB patients at community level

We are majorly concerned with causes of drug reactions, we conduct research at community level with government facilities in our area of operation.
