The Institute works with the DOTS program and with the National program for MDR-TB patients, including atention for TB/HIV co-infected patients

Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
We have implemmented the DOTS program with success.

Drug-Resistant TB:
At the Institute MDR-TB patients are follow up for 18 months, until they conclude thier treatments and are declared cured.

TB-HIV:
At the Institue we have a small Center for HIV patients and TB/HIV co-infected patients receive primary care.

New Diagnostics:
At the Institute we are working with a ELISpot test using ESAT6 and CFP10 anteigens to identify infected patients vs TB patients.

Fundamental Research:
At the Institute we are currentlu working on the study of innate and adaptive immune response against M.tb. We have clinical and basic research.
