| Organization Description: | AKHSP is a NGO working in health sector. It has got tremendous reputation in working in primary health care for the most impoverished communities all over Pakistan. AKHSP programme implementation areas include Karachi, Sindh, Punjab, Northern Areas and Chitral. TB control Project has been relatively a new project for AKHSP, a collaborative effort of AKHSP, GFATM and National TB Control Programme to reduce the TB disease burden from Pakistan. The TB control project started in early February 2004 and first year ended in Jan 2005. There has been a magnificient progress towards a successful PPP during this time. AKHSP managed to train more than 500 health care professionals in different cadres as per DOTS protocols. Capacity building of health care professionals, laboratory technicians and treatment supporters were the major milestones that gave a push towards strengthening of the AKHSP system with major supplies for DOTS with the start of successful case detection along side, in all the 24 diagnostic centres and 48 treatment centres established. |
