On 18th January 2007 a one day sensitization workshop entitled 'The role of traditional rulers' towards the Millennium Development Goals was organized by Stop TB Ghana for Chiefs, Queen Mothers and Presiding members of the central region at the conference hall of the regional house of chiefs to sensitize them on how to fight TB.

The workshop was organized in conformity with one of the provisions of the Millennium Development Goals which advocates for the involvement of traditional rulers in the combat against HIV, TB, Malaria and other diseases.

Chairman Nana Kwamena Ansah IV opened the workshop, Stop TB Ghana made presentations and two lead traditional rulers were identified to represent traditional authority and play advocacy role in the de-stigmatization of TB.

The key note addresses were delivered by the Regional Health Director, Ghana Health Services, Dr Aaron Offei, followed by the National Coordinator of the Stop TB Ghana partnership and Dr. Nicholas Deheer, the acting president of Ghana society for the prevention of tuberculosis - (G.S.P.T.). The two lead traditional rulers also made presentations. First was the chief of Abeadze Nana Kwabu Ewusi Daasebre VII, who presented a paper on the topic "WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TB". This was followed by another presentation by Nana Ataapim Kweenu VIII on the topic "TB ADVOCACY IN CENTRAL REGION WITH NANANOOM".

The National Coordinator of Stop TB Ghana partnership and the President of Afro Global Alliance, Chief Austin Arinze Obiefuna presented to the traditional rulers the Global Plan to Stop TB - 2006 to 2015.

At the end of the workshop the traditional rulers endorsed THE CALL TO STOP TB by pledging their unflinching support. It was also recorded in history as the first conference in which both the chiefs and queen mothers were brought together to deliberate on issues of mutual concern which in itself shows how prepared they are to de-stigmatize and combat TB and other diseases.
